Why I’m Running

My name is Maria Saras-Voutsinas and I am running for Toronto District School Board Trustee in Ward 15.
I’m a lucky parent of two wonderful kids, who believes that the education they receive today will form a big part of who they are tomorrow. That means having a strong, active public education system to foster this. But I am worried about the direction of the TDSB as of late – and believe that we can make it better for both students and parents.

I am running on issues that matter; accountability, transparency, trust and respect. If we work together as a collective force we can promote the strengths of our board and build on the relationships that are integral to its success.

We need a compassionate, committed and proactive team to help build a structure that will work with and for everyone and one that can have a positive impact on our public school system.

Toronto is home to some of the finest teachers, principals and hardworking administration in Canada. We need to be able to provide better support and cultivate a community of consultation and engagement in the TDSB. We all need a voice to create a dynamic education system that will form the foundation for their futures.

My goal is to support the shared interests of our community and that means getting the TDSB to a place where families feel supported and where children are getting the attention and education they deserve.
