Toronto Mayor John Tory greets Pinoys in video message on June 12 Philippine Day

TORONTO – Mayor John Tory released a video message, wishing members of Toronto’s Filipino community a Happy Philippines Independence Day.   In the video, the Mayor speaks to the significant contributions Filipino-Canadians have made to Toronto and Canada. The Mayor states: “Filipino Canadians contribute greatly to the cultural mosaic that is Toronto with their diverse traditions and focus on family and community.”   Toronto is home to one of the largest Filipino communities in the world, spread out over various neighbourhoods across the city. Last month, Mayor Tory joined Prime Minister Stephen Harper in welcoming His Excellency Benigno Aquino, President of the Republic of the Philippines to Toronto.
