Feed the poor kids mission by Lucena association

Lucena City Association pledges to feed the poor and needy children in Lucena City.

The association pledges to start a feeding program to feed the poor children in the depressed areas of the city. To make true to the organization’s slogan, “The Mission is the Reason”, the announcement was made by the president, Jun Enverga at the annual family picnic at Thomson Park last August 20, 2006. Projects accomplished by the organization include the U$500,000 Medical Equipment and Supplies Mission, the Medical and Dental Mission, Educational Mission, Spiritual Mission to help build a church and the recent one was the Livelihood Project for the flood victims in Infanta, Quezon that was successfully completed last year.

The picnic was a great success and thanks to the efforts of the picnic chair, Al Huerto, Chris Pabello and the MaryKnoll graduates of Lucena City. Over hundred guests and Lucenahins, some of them came from the U.S. and the Philippines, feasted in the culinary delights which include Lechon, Laing, Bopis, Pinakbet, Sinantolan, Sinokmani and other delicacies prepared by the Lucenahins. There is no short of drinks either from the gulaman to the famous Quezon drink “lambanog”. Lots of prizes were given away, games were played to entertain everyone and nobody would forget how the banana game and hitting the palayoks ended. Next year’s Hermanos and Hermanas will be the graduates of Luzonian University.

To finance the many missions of the association, Lucena City will be holding a fund raiser at the Malvern Community Center on September 23, dubbed as the “Latin Night” by the chairs, Manny /Belinda Abellanosa and Rolly/Edith Vallena. For ticket information, please contact Jun or Rosemer at 416-284-2810.
