Cusipag: ‘We can’t talk but we will appeal’
The Philippine Reporter reached Tess Cusipag, publisher of Balita, to get her side on the Superior Court of Justice’s judgement on the defamation lawsuit against her and Balita Media Inc. filed by Ontario Senator Tobias C. Enverga Jr.
In a phone conversation on Thursday, July 21, for the purpose of getting an interview, in reference to the press release issued by the office of Senator Enverga on the matter (See story), Cusipag told The Philippine Reporter’s Lui Queaño that she could not comment on the judgement of the Superior Court, and only gave this response:
“Di kami puedeng magsalita kasi (We can’t talk because) there is a permanent injunction sa Balita at sa akin, kaya (against Balita and me, so) I will not make any comment, but it will be appealed. Yan lang ang masasabi ko. (That’s all I can say.)”
In the press release, Senator Enverga issued this brief comment on the judgment: “ I am relieved by the court’s decision on this matter. This is a victory for the community.”
