Historian Milagros Guerrero speaker at BoniFest 2020
Dr. Milagros C. Guerrero, a leading historian in the Philippines, is the keynote speaker in the Andres Bonifacio Festival (Online) to be held on November 29, 8 p.m. (Easter Standard Time).
The virtual event is organized by the Filipino Canadian Writers and Journalists Network (FC-WJNet) in partnership with Malaya Movement Canada in Toronto.
Following is an excerpt from the bio part of one of her books:
Milagros Guerrero was Professor of History and served as Chair of the Department of History in the University of the Philippines Diliman.
A PhD graduate of the University of Michigan, she published several works on Philippine history, including Volumes 5 and 6 of the Kasaysayan: The History of the Filipino series, namely, Reform and Revolution (1998) and Under Stars and Stripes (1998) which she wrote with John Schumacher. Guerrero is also the author of Peasant Discontent and the Sakdal Uprising (1965) and A Survey of Japanese Trade and Investments in the Philippines, with Special Reference to Philippine-American Reactions, 1900-1941 (1967). Her best-known work, however, is A History of the Filipino People, which she co-authored with renowned historian Teodoro Agoncillo. As one of the Philippines’ leading historians, Guerrero was recognized as an Outstanding Achiever by the National Research Council of the Philippines. She also served as the President of the Philippine Historical Association.
