Dancing to be a star is back

Dancing to be a star is back

As promised by PIDC (Philippine Independence Day Council) President, Jun Enverga and Chair Leonie Manzanares, “Dancing To Be A Star,” will be held at Metro Toronto Convention Centre on July 19 (Saturday). With her two Coordinators, Pete Mauricio and Imie Belanger, the event is expected to attract more competitors and will captivate the audience across GTA.

There will be three categories for the evening of competition. Unlike last year with just Intermediate and Advance, this time the categories are Bronze, Silver and Gold competitors. Dancers should remember that the two dancing bats to handle are Latin (Rumba, Cha-Cha, Jive, Samba, Salsa)which allows the dancers to flirt and have fun and the elegant and traditional passionate Standard dances (Waltz, Fox Trot, Quick Steps & Tango). And to make yourself looking vibrant and flamboyant, putting on this stunning and astonishing sequined outfit so as to feel being a dancing queen just for that evening tells it all! The well-liked and well-known husband and wife team deejay in town, Linda and Pat Yugo of the Momentum Sounds will be in hand to help enhance the elegant ballroom scenario.

Agnes Canlas and George Tungol who coveted the Advance category as well as the Intermediate champion, Dr. Christie Gamo and Robert Henson will be there to hand out the revolving trophies to the proclaimed winners this year as well as show off their winning number to everyone for the last time. Furthermore, the three panel of judges’ votes will be counted as 60 percent and guests participation for 40 percent. Part of the proceeds will to Gawad Kalinga, to help build a house for the poorest back home through PIDC.

So for a real wonderful moment, all ballroom aficionados are invited to challenge themselves to dance or just be there to watch and feel and see these incredible dances and enjoy dancing all evening with your favourite competitors. For more info please call anyone at PIDC or Leonie at 905 567 4829.
