Ethnic Press launches Local Journalism Initiative

Ethnic Press launches Local Journalism Initiative

The Local Journalism Initiative was launched by the Government of Canada to support the creation of original civic journalism that covers the diverse needs of underserved communities across Canada. The National Ethnic Press and Media Council of Canada (NEPMCC) is one of seven not-for-profit organizations that administers the Initiative.

If you are an Ethnic Media Outlet (written press, community radio, community television and online news service) you may be eligible to receive funding from the Local Journalism Initiative and you will be able to hire journalists to strengthen local coverage of civic matters in underserved communities.

NEPMCC is available to provide support and financial assistance to qualifying candidates.

Applications can be found at www.nationalethnicpresscouncil.com

Applicants are encouraged to contact the National Ethnic Press and Media Council of Canada:
