Pinoy Night Market in Scarborough
The first inaugural Pinoy Night Market held June 24, 25 and 26 attracted food lovers and culture enthusiasts of all ages, but mainly young people out to enjoy what this new festival had promised to offer in its promotional literature.
“…a massive festival celebrating Filipino heritage with food, arts and live music… (with) over 100 food offerings, (where) guests can expect to indulge in the city’s top Filipino eats and drinks all weekend long,” was how the event was described in its social media post.
Among its features were a kamayan dinner at $50 per person officiated by a Filipino chef, free artworkshops, music/performances, and an impressive vendor line-up selling various kinds of meal offerings to baked goodies and other sweet delicacies, unique jewelry, and Filipino books and other publications.
The ticketed event ($7 per person purchase online; $12per person at entrance) was organized by a group called Pinoy Tayo Toronto and was hosted by Street Eats Market Toronto.
Billed as a fundraiser, “part of the proceeds will go towards Pinay Tayo Toronto future projects to help and support Filipino Women entrepreneurs especially Pinay Startup.”
