Summertime! It’s the season again for outdoor games, fun, and relaxation.Yes, it is. For members of the Camarines Norte Association Canada – Ontario ( CNAC-O), it’s their auspicious time, just like almost every Fil Canadian group, to gather and meet at the park for a picnic and to share their home-made food and drinks and enjoy their camaraderie once again.
The two- year old organization of former residents from the 12 towns of the Tagalog- Bikol speaking province of Camarines Norte will have a potluck get- together on Saturday, July 25, 2009, 11:00 a.m. at Seton Park, Thorncliffe Park Drive & Overlea Boulevard, East York, Toronto. The outdoor activity will feature lawn games and contests for adults and young alike. Also, CNAC-O will conduct its election of executive officers, directors, and town representatives for the 2009-2011 term.
Since its inception, the Association has made tremendous strides in undertaking and contributing its resources and abilities in projects and programs benefiting targeted recipients. CNAC-O has an ongoing Outreach Initiatives program involving shipment of books and reference materials to the Camarines Norte State College and other identified secondary and elementary schools in the province. It’s disaster Relief Funding Assistance scheme and In- kind Donations efforts, as well, have proven its collective cooperation and communal wherewithal during the disastrous flood in 2008.
Recently, the 55-member group has approved and is now sponsoring a 4-year scholarship funding for selected poor-but-deserving students at CNSC– the province’s only state higher educational institution. This coming fall, in support of its established projects, CNAC-O will sponsor a social fundraiser at the Holy Family Church Hall , St. Clair Ave. West, Toronto on October 3, 2009, Saturday.
