FilCan Niagara marks Valentine’s Day
NIAGARA FALLS-The harsh weather conditions last February 14 did not hamper the spirit of the FCAN (Filipino Canadian Association of Niagara) members as they drove all the way to Americana Hotel in Niagara Falls to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Apparently, the social evening was marked with utmost aplomb and strong camaraderie among its members. The fabulous dance presentation of Caryl Cuizon and Angus Dirnbeck provided the much-awaited break after a sumptuous dinner.
The highlight of the evening was the coronation of Veronica Navarro as the new FCAN Queen of 2004. Much confidence has been given to this beauteous lady from Niagara Falls whose record of academic excellence is widely known.
Navarro was born in Niagara Falls and raised in Toronto. She is currently taking up Bachelor of Commerce major in Tourism and Hospitality Administration at Guelph University. She plans to pursue an occupation in event management either in a cruise ship or other related industry. Excited and a little bit anxious, Veronica is thrilled to take on the role as Miss Filcan and hopes that her presence in the association will make a difference.
As an FCAN Queen, Navarro will represent the organization in future cultural events in Canada. She is now looking forward to her first duty in June when the Folk Arts Council in St. Catharines will hold its annual open house. This annual event gathers all the ethnic communities in the region.
