PCCT officers inducted
TORONTO-Philippine Ambassador Francisco Benedicto was the keynote speaker and inducting officer at the Philippine Chamber of Commerce Toronto (PCCT) dinner-dance held at the Saints Peter and Paul banquet hall in Scarborough.
The momentous affair was attended by more than 260 guests and the invocation by Bobby Achacon ushered in the sumptuous dinner that started unusually early. While every one was having dinner, they were being entertained by the stars of the Taste of Broadway, Karen and Christine Tan. The emcees were Malou Jose and Jess Carlos.
The new set of officers is envisioned to take leadership in the Philippine Canadian business community and promote awareness of the healthy and effective business relationship among themselves.
The duly elected officers for 2004 are: Rafael Nebres, President; Cora dela Cruz, 1st Vice President for Government and Trade Relations; Henrique Sia, 2nd Vice President for Memebrship and Educational Program; Jess Cabrias, 3rd Vice President for Public Relation and Media; Ted Dayno, Corporate Treasurer; Oswald Tugadi, Corporate Secretary; Edward Ong, Sgt-At Arm; Jess Perucho, Asst. Sgt-At-Arm; Bobby Achacon, Director; Jess Carlos, Director; Noel Frias, Director; Elizabeth Honoridez-Leggett, Director; Tess Mallari, Director; Evelyn Pagkalinawan, Director; and William Tan, Director.
The Embassy of the Philippines was also represented by Mrs. Tina Benedicto and Atty. Angel Espiritu. The Consulate General were in full force with the presence of Consul Julius and Li Torres; Vice Consul Indhira Banares, OIC of Tourism John Tanjangco and Labour Attache Rolando Olalia. Other VIPs in attendance were Atty. Alice Natividad of Ottawa, Mr and Mrs. Chito Gonzales and Marco Amoranto of Western Union.
Representatives of the Toronto Filipino media were also present to cover the event.
PCCT hopes that the success of this affair will not affect the demeanor of their officers and supporters but rather move them to greater heights of commitment and advocacy to make them great leaders.
