Scam artists victimizing OFWs
TORONTO–The Philippine Consulate General in Toronto has been informed of an ongoing scam which victimizes Filipino workers abroad.
The fraud’s modus operandi involves instructing the victims to deposit a considerable amount in a Philippine bank in the pretext of eventually collecting winnings from a lottery in the Philippines, such as PAGCOR or the PGMA Foundation.
Following are the alleged names in the scam:
• “Ms. Tina Ramos”
• “Atty. Armando Lopez”
• “Joey C. Paparon”
• “Zandy Ventura”
• “Atty. Valdez”–
• “Rosemarie Garcia”
• “Atty. Lopez”
These cases have been referred to the National Bureau of Investigation in the Philippines and to other government agencies concerned for investigation and prosecution.
