Four Filipino leaders now contacts for funeral services

Four Filipino leaders now contacts for funeral services

Elsie Maranan, an active community leader and President of the Ontario Filipino Women’s Club, Nieva Carpio, an active church member and volunteer of a number of non-profit and charitable organizations, Efren ‘Rey’ Reyes, an active community leader and organizer of fundraising events like the Mt. Pinatubo victims and Flora Blas-Racho, a recipient of multiple awards on community volunteerism are now the community’s first contact for immediate funeral needs and funeral planning.

In our community, it is taboo to talk about death or dying, let alone planning your own funeral in advance. When death occurs family members or special friends will have to make difficult decisions in a short span of time. They are faced with not only grieving the loved one, but also having to make decisions as to what they believed the deceased would have wanted, in addition to financial considerations.

Families now have trusted friends in the community to assist them with these plans. You may call these people funeral planners, consultants or counselors, but in reality, they are a friendly face and the conduit to the licensed funeral directors and cemeterians.

Why should you pre-plan? The advantages are…peace of mind…that your wishes will be respected. Comfort in knowing that your loved ones are spared from added stress and anxiety at a very difficult time. You protect your family from an unexpected financial burden and you are protected against rising costs.
