PIDC Christmas dance

PIDC Christmas dance

THE conclusion of another year is upon us and despite the chill in the air; people perk up in anticipation of the upcoming party-filled holiday season. Whoop it up with the Philippine Independence Day Council (“PIDC”) at their Christmas dinner and dance celebration appropriately named “Pasko.”
Enjoy performances by The Club Manila Dancers and musical numbers by promising Filipino-Canadian artists. There will be a silent auction with special items up for grabs such as paintings, capiz parols, sports memorabilia and more.

Also, winners from the 2004 Mabuhay Philippines! Toronto Summer Festival Parade competition will be announced. Tickets are only $20. The party will be held at Humberwood Community Centre located at 850 Humberwood Boulevard, Etobicoke (401 to 427 N to Rexdale Blvd to Humberwood Blvd) on Saturday, Dec. 18, 2004.

Doors open at 6:00 p.m. Get plenty of rest, put on your dancing shoes and get ready to party till the wee hours of the night. Join your “kababayans” in celebrating the most festive time of the year.
Contact Minda Neri at (416) 621-4985 or Albert Alonzo at (905) 294-4663 for further information.
In January, with the cooperation of the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM), the support of the Philippine Consulate General and the Philippine Department of Tourism, PIDC presents “Perlas Ng Silanganan” as part of the ROM’s Friday Nights Series on Friday, Jan. 7, 2005.

PIDC continues to explore ways to showcase Philippine heritage and culture in partnership with mainstream venues to reach out to the vast Canadian multi-cultural community.
ROM will host displays of Philippine costumes, movie presentations, dance numbers by Culture Philippines of Ontario, a performance by Emil Zarris and more.

For more information about this and other upcoming PIDC activities, log onto their website at www.pidctoronto.com or call Minda Neri at (416) 621-4985.
