Petals of Hope art exhibit

Petals of Hope art exhibit

The Philippine Consulate of Toronto and the Philippine Artists Group (PAG) present a two-man art exhibition on April 22, 2005. This event showcases the works of Omel Masalunga and Connie Marcoux, both active members of the PAG.

These two talented visual artists will display their artworks in oil, oil pastel and acrylic. As the title suggests, flowers are the main subject of this colorful indulgence.

Masalunga, currently working as a supply teacher under the Toronto Catholic School Board, renders his Monet-inspired oil paintings, with a touch of Degas on light and shadow. He is more inclined to the classical style of impressionism. On the other hand, Marcoux a returning member after a few years of diplomatic stint in Washington DC, focuses on the more stylized forms. Her color palette is very close to Van Gogh’s radical hues.

After a long and brutal winter this year, a show like this takes away all the blues or trauma of the cold and frigid season. It is refreshing to see that spring is finally here and is captured forever on canvasses. And to make all this worthwhile, all proceeds go to charity.

The show, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, commences on April 22, 2005, 6:00 p.m. at the Philippine Consulate Office, 161 Eglinton Ave. East, Suite 800, Toronto, Ontario. It will run three weeks thereafter. For inquiries, please call Omel Masalunga @ 416-253-1849.
