‘Chacha’ won’t divert anti-Arroyo protests – CPP
MANILA–The Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) said Wednesday (July 27) that protests will continue to mount despite Malacañang’s charter change (chacha) drive. CPP spokesperson Gregorio “Ka Roger” Rosal said that chacha is but another diversionary tactic meant to deflect the Arroyo Resign movement, tie down the opposition and draw the people’s attention away from the Gloriagate scandal and her other crimes.
The CPP said that by reviving chacha at this time, Arroyo hopes to distract the people “with the charter change gibberish of her most talkative stooges.” “Arroyo is doing all this in a desperate attempt to dodge the fatal issues that have spelled the end of her reign, especially her direct culpability in electoral fraud,” said Rosal.
Rosal added that Arroyo is hoping in vain that, with these distractions, protests will fizzle out. “But the deviousness of her intentions and her divertionary tactics are as transparent to the people as her fake ‘I’m sorry’,” said Rosal. “Very few and, in fact, only Arroyo’s cheapest apologists are dancing with her.” He added that the chacha drive is also intended to derail the impeachment process.
Rosal noted that the July 25 anti-Arroyo rally was the biggest so far and “indicated a developing groundswell” in the clamor for Arroyo’s resignation or ouster. An estimated 80,000 to 100,000 people joined the protest rally set timed to coincide with Arroyo’s “state of the nation address.”
Rosal also said that concerted efforts by Malacañang and Arroyo’s sycophants in Congress to block the impeachment process will only be self-defeating. “By killing the impeachment process, the regime will leave the people with no other option but to launch massive street demonstrations to force her ouster.”
