Filipinos take centerstage at Factory Theatre

Filipinos take centerstage at Factory Theatre

TORONTO–Factory Theatre is hosting its first ever Filipino Culture Night at 8pm on September 20th 2005.

In an effort to increase the diversity of its audiences, the theatre will be toasting the accomplishments of outstanding artists of our community, following a performance of Banana Boys, a hit play co-produced with fu-GEN Asian Canadian Theatre.

Here, Filipino-Canadians of all ages can enjoy a wonderful evening of entertainment followed by a question and answer period with the show’s Filipino artistic team members.

Find out how they created the show. Ask them in-depth questions about how they started their successful careers as performers. Find out what the challenges are with being a person of Filipino heritage in the entertainment industry.

For only $12 a person, Filipino-Canadians can enjoy:

• a performance of Banana Boys, the hit play that explores the trials and tribulations of five Asian-Canadian men, at 8pm on September 20th 2005, at 125 Bathurst Street (at Adelaide) Toronto

• an intimate post-show discussion with Nina Aquino (director of Banana Boys) and Leon Aureus (playwright of Banana Boys)

• a word from the Philippine Consulate General’s Dexter Macaraeg about what our culture has to offer right here in Toronto

To book your tickets for Filipino Culture Night, call 416-504-9971 www.factorytheatre.ca
Doors close at 7:45pm NO LATECOMERS PERMITTED!

“We are all so thrilled to invite the Filipino community into Factory Theatre! Our 2005-2006 season is beautifully diverse, provocative and of the highest artistic quality. We are confident that this event will help us reach new audiences, new voices, and new partnership opportunities.”
