Seniors’ forum to identify needs
TORONTO–Filipino seniors’ throughout Toronto are being invited to participate in the 2005 Second Consultative set on October 19 (Wednesday), 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Council Chambers, Toronto City Hall, 100 Queen Street West.
The Seniors’ Forum was formed in order to assist The Toronto City Council to identify the priority needs of the City seniors’ and at the same time, to ensure that the Toronto City Government will filfill its’ commitment of ensuring that all services are equitably provided to all seniors’ living in the City of Toronto.
In the First Consultative Meeting last May 16 at the Council Chamber of the former North York City Hall.
The seniors’ has identified their priorities as housing and accommodation and long term care; financial resources, cost, fees, and access issues; individual health environment, community, and culturally sensitive services; safety, security, and legal protection; participation and leadership advocacy.
The first small community consulation meeting was held from May 17 to 31 this year and the second one is scheduled on 3 to 31 this year.
The Seniors’ Forum is being handled by both Rosemary Bell and Claudia Coore, community development officers of the Community Resources Unit, Toronto City Hall.
