PIDC elects new officers

The Philippine Independence Day Council (“PIDC”) held an election on November 13th at Toronto City Hall presided over by Comelec Resty Del Rosario. The 21 Board of Directors elected will serve for a term of two years. Within that period, these members are to abide by the organization’s mandate to promote Philippine heritage and culture within the diverse community through its meaningful events.

The newly elected 21 Board of Directors include Tobias “Jun” Enverga, President; Rafael “Paeng” Nebres, Exectuvie Vice President; Karen Pascual-Binaday, Vice President External; Alberto Alonzo, Vice President Internal; Minda Neri, Vice President Special Projects; Imie Belanger, Executive Secretary; Estrelita Aguinaldo, Assistant Secretary; Danio Penuliar, Treasurer; Josie Consunji, Assistant Treasurer; Pete Mauricio and Ben Ferrer, Press Relations Officers, Joseph Redoblado and Ramon Fermin, Business Managers; Rose Cruz and Suzy Llanera, Liason Officers.

Other Board of Directors include Rosemer Enverga, Buddy Ibe, Lorelie Redoblado, Jose Saavedra, Cristian Serrano and Bernie Synchanco.

Jun Enverga, president elect, said “As the next President, my main goal is to ensure that more organizations will work together with PIDC. It is going to be hard to follow my predecessor but with the group’s diligence and support, I am confident that we are going to do better.”

The conclusion of the election covered the announcement of a formal turnover of positions which is to take place in January. In addition, events scheduled for 2006 were also released.

January 7, 2006–PIDC New Year’s Bash and Induction Party

April 2006 –Mabuhay Talent Competition

May 7, 2006–The PIDC Grand Pageant (Ms. Philippines, Ms. Teen Philippines and Mr. Philippines)

May 2006–An Evening of Philippine Classics (Concert held in conjunction with Asian Heritage Month)

June 3, 2006–Little Miss Philippines

June 10, 2006– Independence Day Gala in cooperation with Kalayaan

June 17, 2006– Salu-salo sa Earl Bales Community picnic

July 1-2, 2006–Mabuhay Cup All-Star Basketball Tournament

July 29, 2006–Mabuhay Philippines! Toronto Summer Festival
