50 teams compete at Phil-Can League

50 teams compete at Phil-Can League

More than 50 teams from Tykes to Masters Divisions battle it out January 22 through April this year for a friendly game of basketball to win supremacy in their respective divisions at the 30th Phil-Can Inter-Commercial Basketball Winter League.

This was announced recently by Phil-Can President Rafael Nebres.

Mr. Nebres said the games would be held at two locations, namely, Seneca College at 1750 Finch Avenue East in North York, and Mother Theresa Catholic School at 40 Sewells Road in Scarborough.

The Phil-Can Athletic Club President said the games are being held annually to teach children, young adults and adults alike the value of sportsmanship, and stressed the importance of health, reiterating, at the same time, that a healthy body makes a healthy mind- factors which are very important in everyone’s life.

With Western Union as major sponsor, more information about the sports event may be gathered from the following: Rene David at (905) 472-4120 or mobile (416) 527- 6051; Eddie Semira at (905) 887-4205.
