Obituary: Dr. Guillermo O‘Hara de Villa, Jr.
Dr. Guillermo O’Hara De Villa Jr. – passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Health Centre on Monday, Feb. 27, 2006.
Devoted husband of Dr. Maria A. de Villa. Loving father of Joey (wife Wendy) and Eileen (husband Richard). Beloved grandfather of Aidan, Nicholas, and Ryan, who knew him as ‘’Dodo.” Adored brother to Thelma Leelin, Regina Morabe, Elizabeth de Villa and the late Scarlet Santos.
Born in San Juan, Batangas, he studied at Ateneo de Manila and the University of the Philippines. He trained in the U.S. then lived and practised obstetrics and gynecology in Toronto for over 30 years.
Dr. de Villa was a friendly, outgoing, and generous man. He was devoted to work and family and was a pillar of the community, playing key roles in the Filipino Centre Toronto and the Filipino Canadian Medical Association. He touched the lives of many, from the patients he cared for to the many friends and associates who sought his wise counsel, and his family who love him and will miss him dearly.
Friends may call at the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. W., at Windermere, east of Jane subway, on Thursday from 6-9 p.m. and on Friday from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Memorial Mass to be held at All Saints Roman Catholic Church, 1415 Royal York Rd., Toronto on Saturday, March 4, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. Private family interment Queen of Heaven Cemetery. If desired, remembrances may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, Kidney Foundation of Canada and Trillium Gift of Life.
