The newly inducted president of the Association of Filipino Canadian Accountants (AFCA) has underscored the significant contribution of the organization to thecommunity as envisioned by its founders when it was created 28 years ago.
In his inaugural address as AFCA President, Ted Dayno has qualified his statement by citing several AFCA members who have made tremendous contributions to the Filipino Canadian society in particular, and the mainstream, in general, naming, among others, Bobby de la Cruz for his role in the National Council of Pilipino American Canadian Accountants; Winston Lim as founder of AFCA and the Philippine Chamber of Commerce-Toronto; Carlos Padilla as past president of Kalayaan Cultural Community Centre; Nestor Perez, Chair of the Spirit of Kalayaan 2005; Resty del Rosario, Chair, Spirit of Kalayaan- Philippine Centennial Celebration 1998; and Jose Saavedra, President of PIDC and Canadian Multi-Cultural Council Asians in Ontario.
Mr. Dayno said that his administration would continue to carry out the same zeal of dedication not only in the continuous professional development of AFCA members, but at the same time, participation of AFCA on issues and problems that need to be addressed in the larger community.
At the same time, he appealed to all members, sponsors, and the public for their support aimed at ensuring that the objectives of AFCA are successfully met.
Mr. Dayno took his oath of office before Consul General Alejandro Mosquera on March 25, 2006 at the Wyndham Bristol Place Hotel in Toronto, together with eighteen other officers and board members of the organization, namely: Joe Ragual, EVP; Edgardo G. Gonzales, VP-External; Frank A. Aquino, VP-Internal; Rosellie R. Apo, Secretary; Janessa T. Javier, Asst. Secretary; Connie L. Celino, Treasurer; Cecile Barrameda, Asst. Treasurer; Al Tupe, Auditor; Jess Carlos, PRO.
Board Members are Renato Cabrera, Minerva Garcia; Mercy Gonzales, Jaric Justo; Lani Kennedy, Maria Evelyn Marquez; Juliet Perez, Maria Santos; and Julito Longkines.
