The Philippine Independence Day Council (“PIDC”) is excited to announce its line-up of “not-to be missed” upcoming events.
May 6 Copacabana Night
The PIDC will jump-start spring with the “Copa Nite” dinner-dance to be staged at the thoroughly modern Erin Meadows Community Centre near the Erin Mills Town Centre in Mississauga on Saturday, May 6th. “Copa Nite” features music by the likes of Tito Puente, Barry Manilow and more for Latin music/dance aficionados. May 27 PIDC Grand Pageant
The PIDC Grand Pageant is the search for Ambassadors of Goodwill. The pageant focuses on the intellect, beauty and talents of young Filipino/Filipinas who will become role models for the youth of the community. Preceding the pageant will be the talent competition scheduled for 2 pm on Sunday, May 7, 2006 at “The Mansion” located at 646 Danforth Road. This exciting night will be held at the prestigious John Bassett Theatre at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre located in the centre of downtown Toronto.
June 3 Little Miss Philippines
Complementing the PIDC Ambassadors of Goodwill chosen from the Grand Pageant will be the younger generation Little Miss Philippines. The Pageant will be held at the Korean Cultural Centre. June 10 Independence Day Gala
PIDC in cooperation with the Kalayaan 2006 hosts this annual gala that commemorates Philippine Independence. This dinner-dance event will be held at the Doubletree International Plaza Hotel, 655 Dixon Road in Etobicoke. June 17 Salu-Salo Sa Earl Bales Community Picnic
This annual fiesta is the largest Filipino-Canadian community picnic in the Greater Toronto Area.
