Circulo Ilongo picnic
Circulo Ilongo picnic
Circulo Ilongo, one of the oldest surviving Filipino associations in Canada, will hold its traditional family picnic on August 19, 2006 at Thompson Park, Area D, Brimley Rd. and Lawrence Ave. in Scarborough from 10:30 in the morning to 8:30 in the evening.
All through the Circulo Ilongo years, this particular affair has literally held the association together and this year will be an even much bigger event. For starters, it will feature the homecoming of old members from the U.S., U.K., Middle East and as far as Australia. It will also be highlighted by the kick-off of the fundraising drive “Two Steps Ahead” which is basically to provide soccer shoes for the Ilonggo youth in the Philippines.
Soccer is rapidly gaining popularity in the Ilonggo regions mainly Iloilo.
Inspired by the recent FIFA World Cup, Circulo Ilongo members and friends are encouraged to donate their used running shoes, sport shoes and any pair of shoes for that matter. Circulo Ilongo is currently soliciting donations from various soccer clubs in the Greater Toronto Area for used soccer shoes which our Ilonggo youth in the Philippines will be very glad to have considering the cost. As for the rest of the activities, it will be the usual pot luck, lechon, games, welcoming new members and annual membership update.
