PAGSULONG: All discussions will be held at theUniversity of Toronto Women’s Centre, 563 Spadina Ave., Room 100, North Borden Building (Between Wilcox and College on the east side of Spadina. (From Spadina station, take the 510 Spadina streetcar and get off at Spadina Circle.
AUGUST 12: Identity & Racism (12-3pm)–Do the words “flip”, “bacon”, “fob” offend you? Do you see yourself as Pinoy, Canadian or Pinoy-Canadian?
AUGUST 26: Young Women, Gender & Society (1-4pm)–What’s up with these beauty pageants? Do they empower or not? How do Pinoy homosexual youth deal?
SEPTEMBER 9: Education & Employment (1-4pm)–Is it harder to get good jobs if you’re a Pinoy? Why do so many young Pinoys drop out?
SEPTEMBER 16: Family Separation & Forced Migration (1-4pm)–What were the circumstances of your arrival in Canada?
*Pagsulong: Filipino Youth Uniting and Advancing Our Struggles is also the theme of the upcoming Canada-wide Filipino youth and student conference on Sept. 23-24.
