Jeffrey Inquest resumed Sept. 11
Jeffrey Inquest resumed Sept. 11
After a two month summer break, the provincial Coroners Inquest into the police killing of 17-year-old Jeffrey Reodica has resumed Monday, September 11.
On May 21, 2004, several adults and boys as young as 12, witnessed Jeffrey Reodica get shot three times in the back by a plainclothes officer.
More than 20 eyewitnesses testified that Jeffrey was not armed, including those just a few feet away.
The only 2 witnesses who claim saw a knife were the officers – Detective Constables Dan Belanger and Allan Love of Toronto’s 41st Division.
All eyes will again be focused on this Coroners Inquest which will look further into what exactly happened, why plainclothes officers responded to 911 calls and why Jeffrey had to be shot 3 times in the back.
Jeffrey was an altar boy, a marching band member, an active student, and a part-time employee at Krispy Kreme Donuts. He was never arrested or charged by police nor was he ever part of a gang.
Coroners Inquests are intensive proceedings taking place daily, Monday to Friday, with this particular case expected to last a total of four months, ending in October. The inquest is open to the public and J4J encourages all to attend and scrutinize the proceedings.
The Coroners Inquest resumes Monday September 11th, 2006 at 9am, Courtroom #A, Coroners Courts Building, 15 Grosvenor Street, Toronto (near of Yonge and College Streets), (visit website for details)
