Dr. Portugal heads Tahanan Non-Profit Homes

Dr. Francisco Portugal, a medical practitioner in Toronto, was elected president of the revitalized Tahanan Non-Profit Homes in the City of Toronto.
Other officers of the TNPH include Delfin Palileo, vice president; Amy Domingo, secretary; Adoracion Nabor, treasurer; and Willie Nabus, Cora Primicias; and Fr. Ariel Dumaran, members of the board of directors.
Tahanan Non- Profit Homes (one of the three) housing multi-million projects initiated and built by Silayan Community Centre sometime in the 1990’s is located at 65 Greenlaw Avenue, Toronto, Ontario.
The other two completed projects which are managed independently by Filipino-Canadians include the Bayanihan Cooperative Homes in Brampton and the formerly known Sampaguita Villages which is now called “Living Water” located in Mississauga.
Tahanan, a 44-unit complex of various types where majority residents are Filipinos, caters to the housing needs of the City , with the continued commitment and vision of management of the Silayan Community Centre.
The move aims to focus new direction and to address Filipino Community aspirations, to make representations to all government functionaries and agencies the issue of more affordable housing units.
A consultation among the members of the Filipino community is tenatatively set on August 25 (Saturday) details of which will be announced soon.
