PIDC MRS. PHILIPPINES Pageant raised $7K for the poor
Philippine Independence Day Council (PIDC) started the year with a big and prestigious event, the Mrs. Philippines Pageant. The pageant was conceived to reiterate that beauty has neither age boundaries nor limits. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder and true beauty is within each and everyone’s heart and spirit. A seven Thousand ($7000) cheque was presented to Temmy Pangilinan of ANCOP GK International to build houses for the poor. In the Mrs. Philippines Pageant, the candidates are not the only winners; the poor families who will receive the houses are the real winners.
May 2, as everyone enters the elegant Rembrandt Banquet Hall, they were greeted by the lovely ladies and the melodious sound of guitar with Popoy Cana and Ely Torrenueva serenading everyone that enters the Hall. The Hall was full to capacity with everyone wearing their best, all brimming with pride, after all, the queen of the year will be crowned, the first, the grandest “Mrs. Philippines 2008” as presented by PIDC. Of course, the guests danced through the night with the sounds provided by Linda and Boy Yugo and pictures/videos by Rudy Castro.
The candidates were a mixture of age and experience, Flora C. Olit is a Radio Technologist, Rachel R-M Eramo is a retired Teacher, Normita M. Canlas is an Interior Designer, Menchie M. Murcillo is a linguist and Francisca Aquino is an Industrial Engineer. These candidates represent numerous civic and religious organizations. They are all active part of the community and most of all they are passionate to promote Philippine Arts, Culture and Charity.
As the night progressed, the candidate enters the hall escorted to the full regalia of the Knights of Columbus San Lorenzo Council 8809 and Assembly of the Infant Jesus 2692, the candidates paraded to the Dance Floor in their elegant Mestiza Dresses. Everyone stood up, the cameras started flashing and everyone was so excited to see the beauties at their best. The Crowd was even ecstatic when the candidates performed their talents. PIDC is really lucky to have very Talented Ambassadors.
The crescendo of excitement finally peeked when the Mrs. Philippines was announced by the host of the night, Warly Espiritu… and the winner is ….Mrs. Rachel Romulo-Masonsong Eramo!
