Mary Grace Santos is the co-host of “Filipino Eh!”, a TV program on A Channel 20 aired every Saturday from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. which endeavors to bring fun, entertainment and information and share the beauty and richness of the Filipino culture in a way comprehensible to all Canadian viewers. She is also the voice behind the “Iba Talaga ang Pinoy” radio program aired every Sunday at 101.3 FM from 9:00 to 10:00 p.m. which aims to unite and disseminate information vital to Filipino immigrants.
Mary Grace is multi-talented and has been in show business for years. In addition to her radio and TV hosting skills, she is a singer, an actress and the winner of beauty pageants in the Philippines.
She won the Teen Miss World Beauty contest, Miss Talent in the Mutya ng Pilipinas Miss Asia Quest, and the Miss Rose of the Philippines.
She was dubbed at the Singing Sweetheart of Manila and has recorded a gospel album under Praise, Inc., all the songs of which were original Tagalog gospel songs written by Virgil Ignacio.
Mary Grace is also a talented movie actress. She has appeared in movies with noted Filipino thespians like Nora Aunor (in “Annie Batungbakal”); Vilma Santos and Dolphy (in “Buhay Artista Ngayon”); and the late Alfie Anido (in “Dormitoryo”). She had TV stints with Charito Solis, Alma Moreno (in “Alindog”), and in the “Lovingly Yours Helen” soap series. She also appeared in variety shows with Ike Lozada, German Moreno, and Tito, Vic & Joey (in “Iskul Bukol”).
The daughter of Gervacio Santos, FAMAS Hall of Famer and three time Awardee for Film Editing, Mary Grace graduated with a degree in Bachelor of Liberal Arts, majoring in Communication Arts, from the St. Paul College of Manila.
Mary Grace’s radio program caught the attention of CityTV News Anchorman Gord Martineau who asked her to undertake a joint venture called “Munting Pangarap”. This joint venture raised money for the Herbie Funds of the Hospital for Sick Kids to help bring three children from the Philippines who needed life saving surgeries in Canada. A song for the project name was originally composed by Virgil Ignacio.
The grand finals of the Mobistar (Mobile) Singing Contest of Filipino Eh! will be held at the Ontario Place on August 16th. This will coincide with the end of Filipino Eh! season One. Watch out for “Filipino Eh, Season 2” in January 2009. It is very promising, has better time slot, will be more entertaining with lots more information.
