GK Walk set on Sept. 6
The largest and most prestigious community groups in Toronto will join the GK WALK on Saturday, September 6 at the back of Nathan Philip Square, Toronto starting from 8:00 to 10:30 am.
There will be a simultaneous GK Walk on that day in 8 cities of Canada (Toronto, Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Ottawa, Winnipeg, Montreal and Ft. McMurray) and 30 cities in the U.S.
In Toronto, the Philippine Independence Day Council (PIDC), Philippine Chamber of Commerce Toronto (PCCT), Clariz, Saladmaster, Fiesta Filipina Services, Leyteno Association of Ontario, College of the Holy Spirit, Dr. Ruby Formoso,Dr. Fred Mejilla, Dr. Shirley Salazar, Philippine Consulate – Toronto, GK Youth Build, and Front Page Philippines promised to join. Religious groups have united in helping the poor like Couples for Christ, Bukas Loob sa Diyos, Light of Jesus, the various GK Volunteer Groups, St Ambrose Parish – Cambridge and others have also joined the bandwagon.
The Ontario Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration has supported the projects with $200,000 donation last year.

GK, short for “Gawad Kalinga” is the Filipino phrase “To Give Care”. Gawad Kalinga is a prestigious charity organization which helps the very poor in the Philippines and other countries by providing sturdy housing, child education, livelihood programs and essential values formation.
