Four Camarines Norte scholars to receive $2,000
True to its established mission and vision, the Camarines Norte Association Canada – Ontario ( NAC-O), in its recent general meeting at Casa Manila has approved a sustainable Scholarship Project. The project is aimed at providing financial assistance and opportunities to poor- but-deserving outstanding students from the 12 towns of the province in order to pursue and complete their education at the only publicly – supported higher institution in the province, the Camarines Norte State College (CNSC).
The province- based organization, started only in April two years ago, is composed of Ontario Filipino Canadians who are natives and former residents of Basud, Capalonga, Daet, Jose Panganiban, Labo, Mercedes, Paracale, San Lorenzo Ruiz, Santa Elena, San Vicente, Talisay, and Vinzons. Camarines Norte, located south of Quezon province in the Bikol Region, is famous for its world renowned “Imelda” pineapple variety, its “gintong Paracale” and iron mines, and its fishing resource.
CNAC-O, headed by Its president Tony A. San Juan, has okayed an outlay of C$ 2,000 to support the education of four scholars starting SY 2009-2010. Other officers and directors of the association include : Willie Nabus, Larry Bercasio, Pong Ostonal, Lida Muguerza, Rommel Yanto, Susan S. Llanera, Kambz Silvio, Marie S.Agoston, Elisa Maesa, Salvador Gumabao, Shey Silvio, Shirley S.Rosales, Randy Fermo, Sonia S.Dela Cruz, Eva S.San Andres, Minda Alban, Virgie G.San Juan, Liwanag Nabus, Salve Aquino and Melvin Servidad.
