CNAC-O Oks scholarship, other projects for 2010
At a special meeting on April 3rd, 2010 at Toronto’s East York Town Centre Mall,the officers and members of Camarines Norte Association Canada -Ontario(CNAC-O)has aptly considered and approved several projects that will benefit targeted recipients in Camarines Norte.
Among the actions taken is the funding of its province – wide Scholarship Assistance Program or CSAP. Commencing in the school year 2010 -2011, CNAC-O is providing financial grants to selected and qualified poor-but-deserving high school graduates from the 12 towns in the Tagalog-Bikol speaking province.
The education assistance project is aimed at offering valuable opportunities to 12 grantees to pursue post-secondary education at any publicly-supported educational institutions within the province. Initially, the financial grants, totaling Php 72,000 is being endorsed to the scholars through the Office of the Provincial Division Superintendent of Schools in Daet.
Other activities lined up are : 1) Annual Summer Picnic on June 12, 2010(Saturday) at Earl Bales Park, Toronto, 2) Autumn Dinner Dance Party in October, 2010 ( Venue is still being arranged), 3) Family Christmas and Get-together,tentatively set on December 4,2010 ( Saturday).
CNAC-O, with 57 members, was organized on April 21,2007 by Tony San Juan, Jojo Taduran and Larry Bercasio. Currently led by Willie Nabus as its second President, the CNAC-O Executive Directorate is composed of :Susan S.Llanera,Pong Ostonal, Lydia Madrona-Yanto, Lida Espanol-Muguerza,Rommel Yanto,Eva S. San Andres,Nely Lopriego, Merle Canlas,Faye Silvio,Maricris A. San Juan,Larry Bercasio,Andrea A. San Juan,and Shey Silvio. The Town Representatives are : Sonia S. Dela Cruz,Randy Fermo,Minda Sayoc,Manny Ching,Milvin Servidad,Liwy Nabus,Minda Alban,Eman Gerio,Salve Aquino,Shirley S.Rosales,Virgie G.San Juan, and Nestor De Mesa.
Relatively a newcomer in the Filipino Canadian community, CNAC-O besides its scholarship assistance program, has other ongoing initiatives such as : 1) calamity fund aid,2) book donation,3)township outreach assistance,4) family benevolent scheme and 5)community inter-organization cooperation links.
