Made to order perfect day for the Kalayaan Centre Golf tournament

Made to order perfect day for the Kalayaan Centre Golf tournament

On Saturday, August 28, 2010, Toronto’s top Filipino golf players and their guests gathered at the Lionhead Golf and Country Club for the 2010 Kalayaan Centre Golf Classic. The day was the best of summer 2010 and the cool breeze kept everyone’s spirit filled with care-free warmth that ushered in a desire to just play and enjoy the golf game. This event is one of Kalayaan Centre’s big fundraiser with sponsors and donors stepping up to give support. This year because of the challenging Lionhead Legends golf course, we used the 4-person best ball/scramble format. Although the more experienced players preferred individual play, participants still enjoyed the game and the competition. The winners were:

• Team Champion (Jun Paculaba, Chris Bileski, Patrick Lall and Ken Koeger)

• Team Runner-Up (John Manlucu, Gord Drakes, Danny Venditti, Bob Pangilinan)
In addition to the team competition, individual prizes were awarded for:

• Putting Contest – Eric Evidente

• Longest Drive (Men – Sen Alcover, Women – Rodel Meier)

• Most Accurate Drive (Men – Freddie Santiago, Women – Rodel Meier)

Everyone loved the sumptuous buffet dinner served during the awards ceremonies. Loots bags of golf shirts and golf club head covers were given to all. During the dinner, two golf items were auctioned:

A Taylor Made driver R9-460 donated by Neil Padilla of State Farm Insurance and a Titlist Scotty Cameron Putter with head cover signed by Camilo Villegas donated by Tony Simmons (TS personally witnessed the signing).

Chris Bileski bested other bids for the the driver and Mario Durigon took home the putter. This year, we were blessed by the support of 7 Gold sponsors, 9 Silver Sponsors and 45 Bronze sponsors. Gold sponsors included Alta Nissan, Alta Infiniti, Century Electric, Data Networks Corporation through Feliza and Jim Kepler, Kenwin Construction , Neil Padilla – State Farm Insurance, Dr. Romy and Virgie Sinajon and Petra Ltd., A big “Thank You” to our Sponsors, players and a “job well done” applause to our volunteers for a successful event!
