Looking for Canadian experience? Join the Vision Project
RICHMOND HILL, ON–York Region District School Board’s VISION PROJECT provides newcomers to Canada an opportunity to gain valuable volunteer experience in York Region Schools.
Participants receive seven full days of free training over four weeks and are assigned volunteer placements in York Region elementary schools. School placements are for a minimum of 24 hours over six weeks. Volunteers will learn about school priorities, programs and procedures, as well as gain skills in workplace culture and employment readiness. Literacy and communication skills will also be enhanced, along with the opportunity to make new contacts and expand professional networks.
The VISION PROJECT’s unique model helps newcomers to Canada make a smooth transition into Canadian society. York Region School Boards, Regional departments and community agencies work together to provide interactive workshops about Canadian society, culture and the workplace.
Participants will be fully prepared for volunteer placements in York Region elementary schools to get valuable Canadian experience.
