TFC and PIDC join forces for Mabuhay Festival

TFC and PIDC join forces for Mabuhay Festival

In a press conference held at the Westin Harbour Castle in Toronto on January 24, 2011, ABS-CBN Canada announced that it has signed a memorandum of agreement with the Philippine Independence Day Council (PIDC) to co-present the annual festival and trade show this 2011. Dubbed “One Kapamilya sa Mabuhay Festival and Trade Show”, this year’s festivity will include performances from some of the hottest talents of The Filipino Channel (TFC). The top quality homegrown entertainment that TFC subscribers have come to love on screen will be seen live by a greater number of audiences from all over Canada at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre on the 23rd of July.

ABS-CBN Canada Managing Director Marco Amoranto said, “We are very excited to fly in from Manila some of the Filipino-Canadian community’s favorite artists. We could already imagine receiving requests from our cable viewers subscribed to Shaw, Rogers, MTS TV and Telus as well as from our IPTV and web subscribers, telling us who they’d like to see in person.”

Now on its eleventh year, the Mabuhay Festival and Trade Show has been a venue for the Filipino-Canadians to come together annually. It was created to raise awareness of Philippine culture and heritage as well as promote Filipino products and services.

According to PIDC President Minda Neri, “PIDC is alive and well, the members full of renewed enthusiasm, energy and commitment to man this year’s planned activities. The organization is turning on a new leaf with changes in personnel, direction, and organizational processes. It is moving on and looks forward to a great year.”

As TFC joins the PIDC in mounting this year’s “One Kapamilya sa Mabuhay Festival and Trade Show”, Filipino-Canadians could only expect a much more thrilling Independence Day celebration in Canada.
