Wayne St. John who has 40 years of experience as a Jingle singer, band-leader, composer, producer, choir director, vocal coach and musician has joined the faculty of the New Conservatory of Music Ltd. in Scarborough. Wayne brings many talents to Scarborough that were never available before.
Among Wayne’s hundreds of great achievements, he has won a CLIO Award for a Pepsi commercial performed by his children’s band ‘Inner City Kids’.
He received two Juno nominations for his songs ‘Two Can Play’ and ‘Fighting on the Side of Love’ (a top 10 Canadian Chart Hit).
As an award winning jingle singer who sung 1000’s of jingles for companies like McDonalds, Sears, Molsons, Air Canada, Pepsi, and Duracell
he currently still has close to 20 of his commercials on radio. He’s the lead singer & Pan flute player you hear on Selloffvacations.com on air (for 9 years and counting).
In the past he was lead singer for some famous bands like Motherload, Ocean, THP orchestra, Domenic Triano, Dr. Music, and the Lincolns.
Wayne has played alternate leads (Berger and Hud) in HAIR at the Royal Alexandra Theatre for its 14 months run in the late 60’s.
Wayne formed the World Peace Choir and composed many of the songs they perform. Wayne and his choir have performed with Anne Murray, Rita McNeill, and Michael Bolton, and has performed for Coretta Scott King, Nelson Mandela and the Dalai Lama.
In 1982 Wayne was inducted into the Black Music Hall of Fame.
He has also performed for many benefits including Greenpeace, the United Way, St. Christopher House, Variety Club, Easter Seals, and theSick Children’s Telethon.
