‘Cojuangcos will follow SC ruling on Luisita’

Dep’t of Agrarian Reform ready to implement decision

MANILA, Philippines – President Benigno Aquino’s clan, which owns Hacienda Luisita, will abide by the Supreme Court ruling that ordered the distribution of the 4,915.7466-hectare sugar estate instead of the stock distribution plan, the family’s lawyer and spokesman said Thursday.

“Huwag na nating painitin pa ito. The Cojuangcos are not averse to land distribution. Walang problema diyan,” said Atty. Antonio Ligon, legal counsel of Hacienda Luisita Inc. (HLI) “Now, the Supreme Court has spoken, let’s respect and abide by it.”
