Kalayaan Centre Annual General Meeting and Election

The Kalayaan Cultural Community Centre hereby announces that the annual general meeting and election of a new board of directors of the organization will be held on March 4, 2012 at 2:00 o’clock in the afternoon, in the grand hall of the centre located at 5225 Orbitor Drive,Suite 3, Mississauga.

The annual meeting will precede the election in which the president will give the year-end board report and the treasurer will present the financial statement of the fiscal year ending in Sept. 30, 2011. Questions will be accepted and answered after the reports. After the meeting is adjourned, the election will follow and the committee on elections will take over to conduct the election proceedings.

Salient points of the election to remember are: Who are eligible to vote?

1. Current member organizations or individuals who have paid their annual dues for the current year;

2. Must be a member of the organization at least 60 days prior to the election;

3. Benefactors, sponsors or donors who have contributed at least $500 within the last five (5) years.

Each member association shall have two (2) voting representatives and all eligible voters must register with the COMELEC upon arrival. Registrars shall be appointed for this purpose by the COMELEC.

One person, one vote; no proxy voting.

A candidate for any position must be a member in good standing and must have been a member of the organization for at least six (6) months.
