Visit to the Philippines

Visit to the Philippines

Multi-awarded and Palanca Literary Hall of Famer Ed Maranan, left, meets old friend Hermie Garcia in Makati and promotes his books. Maranan won 33 literary prizes in Palanca alone.

A boat ride on the Underground River, one of the 7 Wonders of Nature, in Palawan was one of the highlights of the PH vacation of, from left, Norman Garcia, Rica Granda, Mila Astorga-Garcia and Suzette Granda and their families.

Vacationers from Toronto and Manila were welcomed by Dept. of Tourism representatives led by Doris Suelo in Puerto Princesa, Palawan at the local airport. Tha Garcia, de Vera and Granda families were treated to Filipino hospitality, Palawan style. They went to the Underground River and to Honda Bay.

The De Veyra clan of Tanauan, Leyte, had a wonderful time at Tadjao Resort in Tanauan for a grand reunion with the visit of relatives from Toronto and Manila. Everyone enjoyed the catching up and the games and dancing followed.

Bibingka (rice cake) and balinkinitan (slim) combined into “Bibingkinitan” for eye-catching brand with strong name recall. The store is in Tacloban Robinson Mall. The literature reveals a food chain spread widely in the country. The attendants, however, were on the lookout for any job overseas. Photo: HG

PLAY OF WORDS. “Restaurant” or “rest to run,” whichever, seems to have inspired this brand name for running shoes. The store caught our attention in Tacloban City’s Robinson mall. Another eye catcher is “Happy Hayop,” a veterinary clinic in Paranaque, Rizal.
