Filipino journalist Jaime ‘Nonoy’ Espina (6th from left, standing) spoke in Toronto about the killing and repression of journalists in the Philippines. He participated at Equitas’ annual International Human Rights Training Program in Ottawa. He has been director, spokesperson, media contact, training facilitator and media resource person at the National Union of Journalists of the Philippines since 1986 and a mediator between journalists and law enforcement authorities. He was involved in the fact-finding mission on the Maguindanao massacre. Others in photo are members of Toronto community media led by PPCO president Ricky Caluen and other organizations.

Jed Kevin Nares Perada graduated from high school at Crawford Adventist Academy on June 24, 2012. Jed received the highest honor and is a recipient of Ontario Scholarship, McMaster University Scholarship, CUC Scholarship and Andrews University Scholarship. Jed is a very talented and intelligent student with strong leadership qualities. He is the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Noel Perada.
