Bayanihan, The National Dance Company of the Philippines, to perform in Toronto
Be enthralled by the princess as she swirls her fans and dances across clapping bamboo poles, her handmaid in tow with a parasol, as she battles with the warrior prince who had come to conquer but instead, comes under her spell…
The ultimate cultural treat for Filipino-Canadians is coming to Toronto— “A Celebration of Dance with the Bayanihan, The National Dance Company of the Philippines” at the Cardinal Carter Theatre, 36 Greenfield Ave., North York, ON on 07 November 2012 at 7 pm.
Since its international debut in Brussels in 1958, Bayanihan, The National Dance Company of the Philippines, has been performing throughout the major cities and capitals of the world before heads of states and awed audiences in official functions and sold-out theatres alike.
Critic Guillermo Gomez Rivera best described the Bayanihan as the treasure chest and depository of all Filipino dances, dress and songs. Its success had spawned numerous good cultural dance troupes but the Bayanihan maintains and continues to raise the bar against which the other dance companies are measured.
