Teachers group to hold awards night
Collectively continuing and enjoying its rightful place and reasonable role within the educational-social environment in Ontario, the Philippine Teachers Association of Canada( PTAC), will hold a dinner-dance party to celebrate its 6th Foundation Anniversary and Awards Night on December 1st, 2012 ( Saturday) at Prestige Club, 4544 Dufferin Street, North York, Toronto.
The 105-member socioprofessional group is comprised of practicing and in-transition licensed teachers in Ontario and as well, former teachers and educators in the Philippines in the process of reconnecting their teaching careers. Organized in 2006, its ongoing projects and programs include: professional teacher- development seminars; teacher mentoring-buddy system; book solicitation and donation drive; teacher licensing assistance schemes; career orientation, search and networking workshops; professional resource community outreach activities; and career focus consultation fora.
PTAC, among others, has productive engagement and collaboration with TRIEC (Toronto Region Immigrant Employment Council), ACENet (Asian Canadian Educators Network), Thorncliffe Neighborhood Office for Social and Multicultural Development, LIP ( Local Initiative Partnership) and other community-based, social and provincial organizations in the Greater Toronto Area.
Heading the Association is president Tony A. San Juan and the following officers and members of the Executive Board: Rose Cruz, Boni Curutan, Bernadette Gapuz, Maricon Bernasor, Gigi Nicolas, Pet Collantes, Grace Basconcillo, Jesse Panem, Mel Tumamao, Jr.,Redentor Andres, Sam Posadas, Mila Curutan, Elena Aguilar, Joan Ang, Rose Apilado, Ruvy Bendoy, Mary Rose Cacdac, Norman Daroy,Cielito Drapeza,Venus Geraneo,Etta Madamba, Perly Laganas,Sheng Maligsay and Erlyn Simanero. Rose Cruz and Bernadette Gapuz are co-chairs of the yearly event.
