FUNDRAISING FOR PABLO VICTIMS
Going on a Friday night out? Make it matter. Join the fundraiser for typhoon ‘Pablo’ victims dubbed “Kapit-Kamay sa Pagdamay, A Night to Rebuild Hope for Typhoon ‘Pablo’ Victims” on January 18, 2013, Friday at 7 p.m. at the Great Hall of Glenview Presbyterian Church in 1 Glenview Ave., Toronto, M4R 1P5.
GK Canada chairman Pidoy Pacis is urging everyone to come out on Friday night for refreshments and entertainment that will help rebuild the lives of typhoon ‘Pablo’ victims in the Philippines. Typhoon ‘Pablo’ hit the Philippines early in December, 2012 and left a death toll of over 1200 with 800 people still missing as of December 22nd, according to news wire reports. The reports added that the death toll is expected to rise to 1500, while damages to infrastructure, agriculture and private properties have been estimated at Cdn $873 million.
The fundraiser will feature a short video presentation and updates of on the ground relief efforts. Exciting prizes, courtesy of GK heroes and warriors, await raffle and silent auction winners. More raffle tickets and auction bids mean increased chances of winning and more help going to typhoon ‘Pablo’ victims, Pacis added.
Donations will be accepted at the door and online through the GK Canada website at https://onecanadagk.com/secure/donate.php. To complement local efforts in Toronto GK Canada is making arrangements for live streaming of the event over Skype so those outside Toronto and overseas can make their donations through the website. Proceeds of the fundraiser will go directly to the One Canada Village in Northern Mindanao.
