On Jeepney TV: Sarah Geronimo wants to try comedy

Popstar Sarah Geronimo said that a teleserye or a sitcom might be included in the one-year contract she signed with ABS-CBN recently.

Apart from being one of the mainstays of the long-running noontime musical-variety show “ASAP”, Sarah also currently hosts her own primetime musical show “Sarah G. Live!”. The Pop Princess has been a Kapamilya since 2004 and incidentally, her first teleserye on ABS-CBN, “Sarah: The Teen Princess” is also now being aired on Jeepney TV, ABS-CBN’s archive cable channel.

“Apart from a weekly program, I might also do a teleserye or a sitcom this year,” she said.

When asked which she prefers between the two, the singer-actress said that she’s leaning towards doing a sitcom. “I want to try something new so if given the chance, I’d pick sitcom.”

She also said she wants her three-time leading man John Lloyd Cruz to be in the sitcom as well.  “Lloydie is very easy to work with because he’s not only a good actor; he’s also a nice and caring person. He always tries his best to make people around him comfortable,” she said.

Having done several romantic-comedy films, Sarah said she hopes her next movie project will be a more serious one. “Hopefully in the next films, I’ll be able to show a more mature and serious Sarah.”

She has indeed come a long way and while everyone awaits her dream projects, cable audiences now have the opportunity to watch Sarah draw both tears and laughter, and sing her heart out but of course, in the feel-good romantic comedy series “Sarah: The Teen Princess”. The program airs on Jeepney TV from Mondays to Fridays at 12 noon with replays at 2:00 a.m. the following day, plus the week’s recap every Saturday from 2:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Directed by John D. Lazatin, the series also stars Gloria Diaz, Mark Bautista, Jaime Fabregas, and Beth Tamayo. ?Jeepney TV brings back TV classics close to the hearts of the Filipino TV audience and is available on SkyCable Channel 69 and other leading cable operators nationwide.
