Rachel Andal: Little Miss Piano Prodigy
MANILA, Philippines – The moment I heard about Rachel Andal, I was immediately reminded of another story we ran in October 2012 about a 7-year-old girl from England who had written her first opera, “The Sweeper of Dreams.” Her name is Alma Elizabeth Deutscher.
Rachel reminded me of Alma because, like Alma, Rachel started composing her own music at 7 years old. Today, she is 10 years old and is still composing music, sometimes only in a hour.
The amazing thing is that she doen’t even write lyric sheets yet (only one composition is written on a lyric sheet as of writing, written with the help of her current piano teacher). She keeps all her 22 compositions in her head.
