80s pop, jazz icons to serenade Toronto

TORONTO–Get ready to be serenaded this May by the pop and jazz icons of the ‘80s. Hitmakers Gino Padilla, Joey Albert and

Raymond Launchengco will be in the city on May 4, 2013 at the Global Kingdom Ministries, at 1250 Markham Road, Toronto for their “Back to the 80’s” concert. The show starts at 7 p.m.

This is your big chance to hear the romantic ballads of the ‘80s from the singer-composers themselves. Indeed, Gino, Joey and Raymond’s hit songs have become popular classics. In fact they have remained as Karaoke favorites throughout the years, especially in Filipino gatherings here and elsewhere around the globe.
His Pepsi commercial with Tina Turner in 1986 catapulted Gino Padilla’s career to stardom. Hit songs that are now pop classics followed suit like Closer You and I, Gusto Kita, I believe in You and Let the Love Begin.

Vancouver-based Joey Albert, meanwhile, gives the feminine touch to the show featuring her classic hit songs Points and View, Iisa Pa Lamang, I remember the Boy, Ikaw Lang ang Mamahalin, Tell Me and Yakapin Mo Ako. Movie and teleserye producers have used Joey’s songs as soundtracks, proof of her lasting influence in the Philippine music industry.

Completing the repertoire is balladeer Raymond Lauchengco of the Bagets era with hit songs like Farewell, So It’s You, I Need You Back and Saan Darating ang Umaga.
