Trustee Tanuan to keynote teachers’ seminar

TRUSTEE Garry Tanuan

Garry Tanuan, a Filipino Canadian Trustee for Ward 8 , Scarborough of the Toronto Catholic District School Board ( TCDSB), will deliver the keynote address at the Seventh Annual Professional Development Seminar of the Philippine Teachers Association of Canada (PTAC). The 7-year old volunteer-run, socio -professional organization is conducting a free event on May 12, 2013( Sunday) at 12:00-4:30 p.m. at St. Clair Forest Hill Loblaws ,2nd Floor, # 396 St. Clair Avenue West, Toronto, Ontario.

An IT professional ,Trustee G. Tanuan is a certified project manager experienced in the government, finance, and clinical research sectors.  He lectured at the Seneca at York University campus.  Married to Marla Mercado with four children, Tiffany, Carolyn, Jeremy and Suzanne, he is active in the Catholic-faith community and various community organizations in his Highland Creek and Rouge Valley constituency areas.

PTAC is composed of Filipino Canadian licenced and practicing teachers in Ontario as well as other education professionals who are currently in-career transition and in- professional certification process and former educators in the Philippines who are residents in the province.

The Presenters are expected to share insights, counsel and information on relevant topics such as: “small-business planning and development; education-centred entrepreneurial and consultancy operation for educators; and “best practices and programs in Ontario schools: understanding academic structures and strategies of teaching in Ontario classrooms”.

Tasked to organize, plan and manage PTAC’s seminar program are Jess Panem, OCT, as chair and co-chairs Redentor Andres, OCT and Elena Aguilar.The organizing committee will be assisted by: Bernadette Gapuz, Boni Curutan, Rose Cruz, Pet Collantes,Sheng Maligsay, Grace Basconcillo, Perly Laganas, Donna Scutariu,Erlyn Manero,Sheryll Dela Pena and other officers and members of the Association.
