Featineans mark spring with a dance fling
With the seasonal spring upon us, Featineans and their friends & guests in the Greater Toronto Area welcomed and celebrated the best season in Canada with a successful dinner- dance event. This is in keeping up with collegially experiencing organizational fellowship and meeting its vauntedesprit d’corps through a timely social engagement and collective endeavour.
As a matter of seasonal rite, members of The Featineans Association of Toronto(TFAT), a notable and well-admired organization of alumni and former staff & employees of FEATI University in Santa Cruz, Manila, held its 24thannual spring dance at the Garnet Williams Community Centre in the City of Vaughan, Ontario on April 27, 2013.
The evening’s program, emceed by Association co-founder Tony A. San Juan, started with a welcome address by TFAT president Moises Ga and an invocation by Engr. Rudy Olay, auditor. In his opening speech, Engr. M.Ga proudly announced TFAT’s winning the championship of 2013 Philippine Colleges and Universities Athletic Association Summerfest and also extended his invitation to the Featinean organization’s 24th yearly picnic on May 26, 2013, Sunday at Thompson Memorial Park, Brimley Road, Scarborough.
As expected, leading “party impressario” Annie Buiza productively helped in organizing the successful gathering, supported by PTAC officers: Nenita and Max Recaido , Fanny and Greg Gravador, Rudy and Zeny Ortiz, Rose and Tom Flores, Michelle and Florie Silang, Res and Cezar Banda, Tirso Balitian, Jun Viterbo, Virginia Maruso, Jocelyn San Juan and Florence Carpio. At the party, TFAT also recognized 6 deserving and hardworking officers, namely: Julio Buiza, Fanny Gravador, Nenita Recaido, Oliver Rey, Res Paje and Rudy Ortiz, with token gifts of appreciation.
The occasion ,attended by several FilCan community leaders,showcased several lively ballroom and line-dancing including special performances by the Latino Toronto Dance Troupe, dance- to -the song renditions by Doris S. Yarraand the ala Elvis -singing by Tom Flores. With the party-goers enjoying the music of Ron Carpio’s Florence Sound and the food of Nanay’s Catering Service, the more than 200 guests definitely gave their admiration and unconditional “2 thumbs up” of the celebration.
