The San Lorenzo Ruiz Choir celebrated its 25th Year Jubilee. The SLRC was founded by their Music Conductor Bro. Al Doloroso, with a number of singers in January 1988. Fr. Rodolfo Imperial of Bl. John XXIII Church suggested to name the choir after the First Filipino Saint San Lorenzo Ruiz.

On September 28, 2013, the SLRC Manager Bro. Jorge Isidro, together with SLRC conductor Bro. Al Doloroso performed a 2 hour – 3 part spectacular concert, to celebrate “The Gift of Music” in the full packed hall of Our Lady of the Assumption Church. Everybody loved their sensational concert. Bro. Al said that this concert was the product of joyous singers who blended together, who spent much of their precious time to make it a successful. The narration was done by SK Alex Saroca, PGK of Our Lady of the Assumption Knights of Columbus Council # 12582. The main pianist is Emy Lumibao de Asis.

They started initial practice in the basement of Bl. John XXIII where the Choir rehearsed regularly. They started to serve at the Filipino Mass at Martyr Shrine. The Filipino Chaplaincy (Archdiocesan Filipino Catholic Mission) moved to the Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Bathurst Street in Toronto, under the Spiritual leadership of Rev. Fr. Ben Ebcas, Jr., where they offered regular Filipino Masses every Sunday. The SLRC moved their practice venue and sang in the weekly masses in Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
