CARE Canada Director in the Philippines

CARE Canada Director in the Philippines

CARE Canada Communications Director Suzanne Charest will be visiting this week some of the areas hardest hit by Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines.

Charest will be available for phone interviews from the cities of Tacloban and Ormoc Nov. 25-27.
She will be seeing CARE’s emergency relief efforts and on hand for the distribution of shelter kits in Tacloban donated by the Government of Canada.

CARE is working with partners to deliver emergency relief to communities devastated by Typhoon Haiyan. Our initial response aims to reach 200,000 people (40,000 households) with life-saving food and shelter as well as non-food items. CARE is working to not only meet urgent humanitarian needs, but will also seek to help communities recover in the months and years to come.

The Government of Canada has contributed greatly to this effort with the gift of much needed shelter supplies and kitchen sets, coupled with the generous support of $1 million to CARE to provide emergency shelter support to 20,000 female headed and vulnerable households in Leyte and Southern Leyte.

Suzanne Charest can be reached for interviews (in English and French) via her local number in the Philippines: +63 91-988-64145
